Let Them Eat Cake
By Gus Hooker
To celebrate three years in the Hooker Horde, I invited a few people and furry friends over for Mojito Monday. Hu-mom made the mojitos.
I made paw-ty favors. Most of my friends, including my bro-fur, Booker, like to chase tennis balls. Inside each cellophane bag, I placed a tennis ball, gluten-free heart-shaped cookies, and custom ice cream cone cookies. Then, tied them with paw print ribbon.
Hu-mom found a recipe for a dog-friendly cake. I’ll share it with you.
Peanut Butter/Carrot Cake
1 cup flour (we use organic whole wheat)
1 tsp baking soda
¼ cup peanut butter
¼ cup vegetable oil
1 cup shredded carrots
1 tsp vanilla
1/3 cup honey
1 egg
Frosting
1 ½ cups cottage cheese
Mix flour and baking soda. Add remaining ingredients. Pour into greased 8” round cake pan and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Puree the cottage cheese in a blender for icing. Decorate with dog cookies and candles.
